About Yard Dog Studio

And some thoughts on why We Do this anyway.

Many Years ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I began building tube guitar amplifiers and microphones, and repairing most things that musicians would bring to Yard Dog Analog. I have been playing guitar or bass, in bands since I was 13. D#*n I’m old (excuse me). My first recordings were made on a miniature reel to reel tape recorder that my father brought back from Japan (he was an Air Force pilot, and I one of his military BRATs, born at Kindley Air Force Base, Bermuda). 4 years, 9 months and 26 days in the Air Force myself, and then afterwards, music as a part time career while I worked offshore. While in Houston, Texas, I repaired studio equipment, assisted engineers, ran live sound, and played in several bands (And graduated from the University of Houston, go Coogs). All that wore me out, but MUSIC got me through it. With the advent of affordable computers and useable DAWs, I built Yard Dog Studio with 4 ADAT’s in my home. I remotely mix and master here now and occasionally record vocals, guitar, bass or keys. Whole Band or any recording that needs a full studio is done at Pelba Recording Studio in Cecilia, Louisiana. I am also a partner in Pelba Recording Studio with fellow engineer and attorney, Dean Guidry. Dean is an accomplished guitar player, producer and engineer. We still use the ADAT’s occasionally, I like their converters for some things, and we have a REVOX A77 reel to reel that we use when needed. Most music does just fine in the box, but we have plenty of quality hardware. Give us a chance, Hear what we can do for your music. It never hurts to have a second and third pair of real ears (not AI) to get your music to “that industry standard”, whether for CD, radio or streaming. We can also help with anything else related to music creation and distribution.

So….why do I do this??? It’s in my blood. and an integral part of who I am. I don’t think I would be alive, if not for music.
